Halloween Race Costumes Part II

Grab your best running buddy or your whole running club because we’ve got you covered for your Halloween race costumes this year! Make this year’s Halloween run the most fun run you’ve ever had with these awesome costume ideas!

GROUP RUNNING COSTUMES

1 Crayon Running Costumes

Crayons are a great option for running costumes because there is basically no minimum number of people and no maximum number of people who can join in on this group costume, and you don’t have to worry about that one flakey friend!

Crayon Running Costumes

  • The biggest components here are matching every part of your costume to your color
  • A solid colored shirt paired with the same color pants/shorts is a must.
  • Definitely opt for a matching pair of socks as well to get the full effect!
  • Add extra details in wherever you can, like a matching headband, matching hat, and/or matching tutu
  • Print the Crayola logo out and tape it to your shirt so that no one will miss this group of crayons that escaped its box
  • Pro-Tip: Details are the key to a great group costume. If you have a larger group, use puffy paint or permanent markers to write the name of your color as it would be written on the wrapper. Bonus points for the obscure color names in the larger crayon packs, like robin egg blue or macaroni and cheese!

2 Superhero Running Costumes

The list of potential superheroes is honestly nearly unending, so this is another group costume that is super flexible and will accommodate for a trio of runners or an entire run club! Most of the time, a hero’s costume is designed to handle gymnastics, fighting, and explosions, so it’s easy to translate these outfits into activewear!

Superhero Running Costumes

  • Commitment is key here. Superheroes are a popular option every Halloween, so accessories and attention to detail will help you stand out!
  • Because of their popularity, you should also try your best to stick as close to their true costume colors as you can to make sure everything is instantly recognizable!
  • For heroes like Spider-man, if you’re not planning to commit to full spandex, then as much clothing as possible with the webbed pattern will go a long way in pulling this look together, so adding a patterned headband or sweat band is a great idea!
  • To channel Wonder Woman, replicating her red, white, and blue pattern is easy with our Run Free capris and/or this Super Runner performance tank!

3 Mean Girls Running Costumes

This is a little bit of a time capsule costume, but no less iconic! The runners that get it, get it. There are so many classic moments in the movie, you can easily find costumes that work for you and your usual running gear, or to match completely and stand out in a race of spooky costumes, go with their Christmas talent show outfits!

Mean Girls Running Costumes

  • Regina: A black tutu and a purple sports bra suddenly become a costume once you cut holes in a white tank top to go on top!
  • Cady: Pink is your friend for these costumes. Pair your favorite running shorts or tights with an oversized pink polo or performance shirt for a pre-plastic and instantly recognizable Cady.
  • Gretchen: Definitely go with another pink outfit here, even if your race isn’t on a Wednesday. Bonus points if you carry a toaster strudel box with you!
  • Karen: Opt for an all black outfit and a black tutu, but of course add a pair of novelty furry ears. You’re a mouse, duh.
  • Since most of you will be wearing pink, you have some room to get creative and pick a running shirt you love, that also happens to be pink!

Pro Tip: When I did this costume with a group of friends, I skipped the plastics and dressed up as Damian instead. Wear your usual running bottoms, but add sunglasses and a hoodie with the drawstring pulled tight. Bonus points if you tell the runner in front of you that you love their work.

BFF RUNNING COSTUMES

1 Minions

Minions

I think we’ve all grown to love these adorable little troublemakers! One of the best parts of this costume is that there’s truly no limit to how many people can join in! Running with your “Sole Mate”? You can both be Minions. Dressing up with your entire running club? Then I hope everyone is ready for the swarm of Minions to make their race truly despicable!

Minions

  • A yellow shirt is integral piece number 1
  • Blue bottoms are step 2. A pair of comfy blue pants or a blue tutu are a perfect fit!
  • Add our LED performance headband to imitate their adorable 1-eyed gray glasses
  • If you can find matching suspenders (and don’t mind running in them) these are a great way to bring the look together as well

2 Tina and Louise Running Costumes

For your BFF that loves you like a sister - and maybe annoys you like a sister - run your race in these simple but adorable costumes and grab a burger together after your race!

Tina and Louise Running Costumes

    The Chicken:
  • Tina: A light blue shirt and a blue tutu will make this an easy costume to arrange, even last minute! For your accessory details, a bright yellow clip in your hair, some mid-calf or knee-high socks, and lens-less glasses will bring everything together!
  • Louise: The pink bunny ears are non-negotiable here. You can definitely get away with bunny ears on a headband, but the ears are integral! Add a long green t-shirt to your favorite running bottoms and you’re good to go!

3 Betty and Veronica Running Costumes

Dressing as Betty and Veronica for your run is a great option for you and a BFF, but there’s also plenty of room to include anyone else who wants to tag along! Plus, their color scheme works great if you got your BQ and went blue and yellow crazy! Check out all of our Boston city offerings for a humble brag addition to your Halloween costume!

Betty and Veronica Running Costumes

    Ariel:
  • Betty: A high ponytail is her signature so it works perfectly for a run! Grab a white ¾ sleeve shirt with yellow sleeves and pair that with royal blue bottoms. Complete the look with crew socks
  • Veronica: Match Betty’s outfit but with slightly more flair for Veronica. Add a bright blue or yellow headband or bow. Major bonus points if you both add a bright yellow collegiate “R” to the front of your shirts to pull it all together!

4 Soap and Loofa Running Costumes

If you’re a little bit creative and handy with a glue gun, these DIY costumes are pretty simple but a great way to get some laughs!

Soap and Loofa Running Costumes

  • Soap: Cut some cardboard into the general shape of a soap bar to attach to your shirt. Paint this your desired color and add the word “Soap” in large letters to match popular brand options. Add a couple of inflated balloons to your cardboard to mimic suds!
  • Loofa: Keep your running clothes simple like black shorts with a black tank top. Now grab your trusty glue gun and a handful of tutus. From here, you want to fluff and bunch your tutus and glue the elastic waistbands to your shirt so that you’ll end up looking like soap’s shower-time BFF!

FAMILY RUNNING COSTUMES

1 Addams Family Running Costumes

If you’re planning costumes for the whole family, nothing screams Halloween quite like the Addams Family.

Addams Family Running Costumes

  • Morticia: Three words - All. Black. Everything. Well, almost everything. A bright rep lip and bright red nails are the only pop of color needed here!
  • Gomez: A striped shirt is an easy way to reference Gomez’ pinstriped suits but drawing on a pencil mustache is a must!
  • Wednesday and Pugsley are easy and adorable costumes for kids! A striped shirt for Pugsley and almost all black for Wednesday. Braided pigtails make this look unmistakable!

2 Mystery Inc. Running Costumes

The bold, signature color of each member of the Scooby Gang helps to make these costumes easily recognizable in a field of other runners!

Mystery Inc. Running Costumes

  • Daphne: So much purple! A purple shirt with purple running shorts or a purple tutu is an easy but bright and fun running outfit! Pair this with a bright green headband to call back to her ascot!
  • Velma: While I do not advise running in a turtleneck sweater, an older long sleeve shirt paired with a red tutu will definitely get the idea across! Grab a pair of lensless glasses to bring everything together!
  • Fred: A white running shirt with blue shorts or running pants is an easy way to put together this costume! To make sure it screams “Fred,” an orange RokBAND is a must!
  • Shaggy: Maroon bottoms with a loose-fitting green tee is the way to go for a Shaggy costume. Major bonus points if you can bring your dog along for a pup run!

3 Peter Pan Running Costumes

You’re never too old to be a lost boy with these costume ideas! Ditch being an adult for the day and follow the second star to the right!

Peter Pan Running Costumes

  • Peter Pan: All green, all the time! Pair green running tights with a longer green shirt for an instantly recognizable look! If you can find a similar hat, this will take your costume ever further - don’t forget the red feather!
  • Tinker Bell: This is also a green-heavy costume, but definitely opt for a lighter green than Peter. Adding some cute wings and a puff ball to your running shoes are quick and easy final touches! We don’t have any pixie dust, but we do have a Tink running outfit that will make this costume super easy!
  • Captain Hook: A classic pirate costume with red accents will work here for sure! If you don’t fancy carrying a hook prop, tape a drawing or print out of one to a water bottle to carry!
  • Shadow: Go with all the same staples as Peter’s costume, but make sure all of your clothing is black! This is especially fun if you’re usually around the same pace with your buddy!
