Halloween Race Costumes Part I

Running costumes are one of the best parts of in-person races, so Halloween is our time to shine! If you're planning your next Halloween costume, check out our guide to putting together a great and festive Halloween race costume! Whether you’re looking for solo costumes or couples costumes, we have Halloween running costume ideas for any runner for any themed races!

SOLO HALLOWEEN RACE COSTUMES

1 Day of the Run Costume

Day of the Run Costume

This costume idea is performance focused but offers so many different ways to take it to the max! Our Day of the Run outfit ideas allow you to stay festive during your run, but you’ll still be well positioned to hit your PR!

Day of the Run Costume

  • These day of the run performance tights are the perfect medium for a fall run when it might be a little too chilly for shorts
  • Keep the hair off your face with a moisture-wicking visor to help you stay dry and cool (and on-theme!) with a day of the run reversible visor
  • Choose your favorite color in our day of the run shirts or tanks for a spooky skull to tie everything together
  • Stick to black on additional accessories to keep the skull designs the focal statement piece such as black performance socks
  • Pro-Tip: To carry this skull theme through to the max, use some eye black around your eyes! This is an easy way to give your costume the extra push! Using eye black instead of party store makeup also means that your look can be water and sweatproof. Plus, if you want to add in some fun sugar skull designs, eye black is available in a variety of bright colors!

2 Witch Running Costumes

Witch Running Costumes

Build your own witch running costume to fit your style for a classic option with your own flair! A witch is a Halloween staple, so make this costume your own by getting creative with the details!

Witch Running Costumes

  • Choose an adorable running witch shirt like we did with our tank top and fitted tee
  • Opt for a bright tulle tutu or a sequin tutu for a little extra shin!
  • Our witch beanie is an adorable topper that gives all of the witch fantasy without a cumbersome hat
  • These witchy knee-high socks will give you all the fun of witchy socks but are still designed with running performance in mind
  • To take things to the max, get wicked and go for green face paint or some witchy makeup
  • Pro Tip: Make sure your fun, themed makeup survives your spooky run by setting it with translucent powder and setting spray before your run. If you’re no Halloween makeup guru, no sweat! Our fun character beanies double as masks!

3 Breakfast at Tiffany’s Running Costume

Go old school and channel your inner Hepburn with this costume! This is another easy costume to put together and is instantly recognizable!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Running Costume

  • First, a plain black tank top will make up the top of your dress
  • It’s a little difficult to run in a gown, so opt for your choice of black running bottoms here - you can always add a black tutu to give something more similar to a dress’ silhouette
  • Make sure to add a chunky piece of costume-jewelry. While Audrey’s necklace is an oversized statement piece, even a strand of fake pearls will be enough of a callback to this moment for your costume
  • Oversized sunglasses are also a must for this costume, and helpful for those bright, morning fun runs
  • The iconic beehive updo also works well with keeping your hair up and out of your face while running. Gather and bunch your hair higher than usual so your running bun can be another part of your costume

COUPLES RACE COSTUMES

1 Rocky Balboa Running Costumes

Rocky Balboa Running Costumes

Show off all your hard work and training with a Halloween running costume that is quite literally famous for the movie’s training montage! Put on your pump up playlist and get into that fighting Philadelphia state of mind to run your race as the Italian Stallion himself! Rocky is a universal costume that will work for any runner but looks especially great when you can bring an Adrian along to run with you!

Rocky Balboa Running Costumes

  • Pull on a pair of comfy gray joggers for this one - don’t worry, of course we have men’s and women’s
  • Add a gray hoodie and suddenly you’ve almost got a full costume
-Feel free to add your own flair and opt for a graphic or saying on your sweatshirt that you love as a runner!
  • Add on a comfortable and warm knit beanie
  • Wrap some athletic tape around your fists to complete the look
-This is part of what will really set you apart and pull the character together
  • If you think it'll be too hot in the hoodie, our eye of the tiger shirt or tank is a perfect substitute!
  • Pro-Tip: Rocky’s pose at the top of the steps is so iconic that Philadelphia immortalized it in statue form right next to the art museum steps, so it is an absolute must to find some stairs to run up so you can capture the pose that your Instagram followers will love!

2 Chicken + Egg Running Costumes

Chicken + Egg Running Costumes

It is finally time to figure out once and for all who comes first - the chicken or the egg! This adorable couple’s running costume has a competitive twist and can be as simple or as festive as you want!

Chicken + Egg Running Costumes

    The Chicken:
  • To keep this cute, opt for pops of yellow throughout your costume! A performance white tank for women with a bright yellow tutu is an easy way to stand out in the crowd!
  • Add long orange socks or orange leg warmers for chick legs
  • A fake beak and a yellow feathered boa are great and inexpensive additions to get a bit crazier!
  • The Egg:
  • For the egg, you’re going to want to keep your outfit mostly white (surprising, we know)
  • A white performance tank for men with a drawing of an egg is a quick way to pull this off at the last minute and a bright yellow visor means you’ll both match and it’s a cute callback to an egg’s yolk.
  • If you’re good with DIY projects, get your scissors out and cut two shell shapes (add a crack for detail) from some cardboard and paint them white to be attached to the front and back of your shirt to form the egg

3 Ariel and Eric Running Costumes

Ariel and Eric Running Costumes

With how far Ariel was willing to go to trade in her fins for some feet, I am absolutely convinced that she would end up being a marathon runner so she could get the most out of them!

Ariel and Eric Running Costumes

    Ariel:
  • For your upper half, you can either wear a purple sports bra or layer a purple bikini top over a white tee to get a similar look - or, make it even easier and grab our mermaid top! For your all-important mermaid tail, go with a green sequined tutu to mimic the shine of scales
  • A mermaid scale accessory like our RokBANDs will also help to carry your theme through as these can be a hair tie, headband, or sweatband!
  • If you don’t have red hair and don’t want to commit to a sweaty wig, some bright streaks of temporary red hairspray from your local party store will go a long way
  • Pro Tip: Tape a fork to the outside of your water bottle so you can carry a prized dinglehopper with you!

    Prince Eric:
Eric’s outfit is pretty simple so there’s not a ton of wiggle room, but that also means it’s easy to pull off!
  • For a shirt, you’ll need a white, long sleeve tee. Push or roll the sleeves up just below your elbow for maximum accuracy
  • Our 13.1 lounge pants are a great comfy substitute for Eric’s pants
  • Since you won’t be wearing boots, black running sneakers and mid-calf black socks will do the trick
  • While you definitely don’t need a legitimate cummerbund on your run, a bright red sash of some kind around your waist is a must to bring this look together
