The mission of Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida is to grant life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. We go above and beyond to grant once in a lifetime wishes to very amazing children. Their one true wish made a reality, at a time when they need it most. Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Chris Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come to life. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives. 99% of wish parents reported that the wish experience gave their children increased feelings of happiness. This is because a child’s life shouldn’t be about illness, hospitals, or a diagnosis – it should be about wonder, joy, and hope.
