RUN WITH US BLOG

Come, run along with us as we share our joy of everything running.

As runners, we are always looking for a way to increase our performance and health. I just listened to an interview by Kate Rhéaume-Bleue, N.D.who has written a very informative book,  " Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox".  The K2 vitamin tends to go under the radar screen but it is a powerhouse for improving bone density, reversing heart disease to increasing VO2 max in athletes. Vitamin K2 actually directs calcium to build bones.  When K2 is absent the body often misdirects the calcium allowing it  to build up in the arteries leading to both narrowing and hardening of the arteries.  Vitamin K2 has also been clinically proven to be a powerful anti-oxidant and some emerging research is showing that it might help your joints and intestinal health.  Check out Kate Rhéaume-Bleue, N.D. book  " Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox" for more great information on this amazing vitamin.

Why are many of us K2 defecient? Since we no longer grass feed our cows and cattle our dairy and meat products are devoid of vitamin K2.  Vitamin K2, is difficult to find in our diet with the exception of a Japanese traditional food, Natto. When taking a vitamin K2 supplement it is important to choose the MK7 version.  Check out Kate Rhéaume-Bleue, N.D.  book " Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox" for great information on this amazing vitamin.
